So we’ve all had the experience of intending to diet, clean, do our filing, or whatever,….and ….well…..it just didn’t happen. Instead you ended up binging, drinking, doing ‘retail therapy’. Those are the times when you say to yourself “the part of me that’s not in charge knows I shouldn’t be doing this right now”!!!! In order to get ‘back on track’ you have to remember what your intention is for what you would consider a ‘good life’. Careful not to aim for perfection, and to schedule in breaks or it will lead to a ‘control/release’ cycle. That’s where you behave in overly controlled ways and then behave just like a kid rebelling against a parent….even though it all happens internally. You release by binging on all the things you haven’t allowed yourself. It’s much better to ‘trend’ in the direction of what you would like to have change. Each time you catch yourself going off track, acknowledge it, forgive yourself, and then start again. Focus on the “forgiveness and starting again” or the negativity will spiral you out of control. Keep the faith, and do what you can to inspire the part of you that knows what will work to stay in charge.
