I had an Uncle once who told me what it was like to live and fight in the trenches during WW1. It brought the realities of war to me. I hate war movies because they often focus on the action and strategy and not the cost to human lives. The exception is that I have always thought that the movie “Platoon” should be required viewing in highschool so that the realities of war get absorbed. The longer our country lives in relative peace, the harder it is to remember that people fought and paid with their lives for this freedom that we enjoy today. Young men barely out of school still enjoying their first loves. It’s tragic. Take the time today to enjoy something……anything……a meal, a laugh, time with a friend or member of your family…….anything…..and do it in honour of those that can’t because they paid for our freedom with their lives.
Here is a painting I did years ago to remind myself to be grateful and live one day at a time. I am posting it in honour of those soldiers.

And..... just to keep things in the family today!!!....I’m proud to say that the video today was created by my stepson Bensen and his band Safe As Houses in honour of those people whose lives have been affected by war.
