I know that this is a season that is busy and triggering and full of all of the highs and lows of life! It's a time when the joys of children's concerts and parties collide with the stress of trying to juggle family, friends and work commitments and the grief of lost loved ones. Oh.....and would you mind just fitting in buying presents and completely decorating your house too please? And even if you aren't Christian and participating in these traditions then you can still be triggered by the fact that you are not a part of mainstream and during this next month you will be reminded of it every time you go into a grocery store or mall and have to deal with the frenetic crowd of shoppers and store clerks. And really......what we all need to do is remember. Remember that each person you come into contact with matters more than the gift or the length of the line-up or the political correctness of whether they wished you a Merry Christmas or a Season's Greetings. We are all just human beings doing our best and trying to cope during a hectic and often difficult season. Each of us has a responsibility to try to create Peace on Earth regardless of the faith we come from. That means we each need to learn how to calm ourselves, be patient, work to get ourselves out of feeling overwhelmed and treat everyone that we meet in a way that lets them know that they matter. That they have value here on this planet and that you intend to treat them with respect. The personal IS political. When we take responsibility for being 'response'-able, instead of reactive, we will create Peace on Earth wherever we go. That's the ideal anyway. Take a deep breath. OK December....bring it on!
