So this weekend we turn the clocks back. Spring…..yeah!!!.....bring it on!!!!! It has been a long hard cold winter and we’re all looking forward to seeing the buds on the trees and feeling the warmth on our skin.
Weather and nature do have a lot to teach us. They mirror to us the seasons of our lives. I think we all think that if we were ‘just doing it right’ we would be able to maintain a spring-like attitude and a skip in our step all the time. Not always. Life happens. We all have our long hard cold times. And if we think about nature and our innate resilience we can remember that spring will come again. My niece taught me the expression of ‘it’s not the season of life I’m in’ when she was parenting 4 kids. She and her husband were busy and broke. Her friends were still childless and had lots of time and money. It was easy to be envious. And envy is normal. It’s just that when we start to feel envy, it’s important to remember and make peace with the season our life is in. Magazines and commercials would like us to think that we are forever young, have lots of money and are living exciting and interesting lives every day. It’s important to remember that we all have our winters and that we can persevere and focus on solutions and that spring will come again.
While you are in the ‘winter’ of your life, figure out what things help nourish you and keep you warm, figure out how to enjoy the aspects of winter that you can and to problem solve around the issues, and remember….spring is just around the corner!!!!!
