So the Paris Climate talks have resulted in an almost unanimous agreement world wide to reduce global emissions of greenhouse gases that will be LEGALLY binding. This is HUGE. Why am I writing about this in a blog post about resilience and hope you ask? Well because until everyone in the world realizes that we are all connected: environmentally, energetically, emotionally, economically etc, then we will continue to hurt one another. This contract gives me hope that the leaders of our countries are beginning to realize that. And whatever the leaders are modelling at the top of any system ripple effects down to the bottom. Shared power, healthy communication, personal responsibility and love can be found at the heart of any healthy system. In a week where one of our world leaders (Trump) behaved like a racist, I was thrilled that it was counterbalanced by a show of teamwork and responsibility for our planet at the Paris talks. There is hope for the world. And that matters. We all matter. Even Trump.....as disconnected as he is. In honour of the climate talks I'd like to recommend a book by Douglas Wood if you are buying for your kids this season. It is beautifully written and the watercolour paintings are exquisite! If the term GOD bothers you in the book then substitute "Good Orderly Direction". All religions invite us not to do unto others what we would not want to have done to us. We are saving ourselves when we take care of our bodies and the earth. This is the season that many religions have celebrations. It's nice that the climate talks have resulted in the kind of collaboration that needs to happen if we are going to heal ourselves spiritually and emotionally too.
I will be away until the end of the year. I hope each and every one of you are able to find some kind of positive connection in the next few weeks be it in nature, with family, friends or within yourself. Keep looking for signs of hope. That matters and you matter. Namaste.
