This is a type of mandala called Hridaya Kamalam. In India the women do this in flour on their front steps. It is not on Wikipedia so I can only give you what I learned from my friend who is an art teacher. It is a meditative practice for the opening of the heart. You draw 5 circles one within the other. Then you make 3 lines dividing it into a pie with 6 pieces. Next you write out 5 numbers and begin to trace your pen over the numbers at the next intersection. What you end up with is a beautiful flower that you can then colour in however you like! I hope that if you try it, you enjoy it and it helps you to relax.
